An Andres Segovia Double Bill is the next program in the Music & Dance on Film series, to be screened this Wednesday August 3 in Arts.

Two films by Christopher Nupen on world renowned classical guitarist, Andres Segovia, are featured: 

Andres Segovia at Los Olivos was shot at his home “Los Olivos” on the Costa de Sol, Spain, in the Summer of 1967.  It includes Segovia reflecting on his life and music, with performances on his guitar.

The Song of the Guitar, is a 1976 documentary featuring Segovia giving brief sketches of his life & career, and performing on his guitar by the reflecting pool of the Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain. 

Both films include music by Bach, Scarlatti, Albeniz, Rameau and others.

The Andres Segovia Double Bill commences at 12.00 noon and concludes at 1.45 pm approx.  It will be held in the Arts Listening-Viewing Room.  Enter via the Arts Reading Room and Audio-Visual Centre (from Trescowthick Information Centre).  Admission is free.  No bookings required, but come early as seating is limited.
