Welcome to the event!
Following introduction by Sue Roberts, CEO and State Librarian first speaker Shauna Hicks on ” Google genealogy : are you making the most of Google?”
Then moving to Victorian government records held at Public Record Office Victoria with Daniel Wilksch reporting on “Old records, new access at Public Record Office Victoria”
The lunch break and our inaugural conservation clinic. Many attendees took the time to speak to State Library of Victoria and National Archives of Australia conservators about preserving their family treasures.
Mark Brennan, Assistant Director, Access and Communication, National Archives of Australia began the afternoon session with a look at “Pictorial records at National Archives” .

Susan Long from the State Library of Victoria followed with an inspiring presentation on “Family photographic albums : the stories we choose to tell” .
Final activity of the day was the annual Don Grant Lecture organised by the Victorian Association of Family History Organisations and given in 2012 by Professor Janet McCalman on the topic “Family secrets : Vandemonians in Victoria”.

Over two hundred people attended the event over the day, best ever. For those who missed out, podcasts of the talks plus a videocast of the Don Grant Lecture will be available on the State Library of Victoria website. Stay tuned for details of Family History Feast 2013, the tenth to be held at the Library which will take place on Monday 5 August.

A podcast of the whole Family History Feast 2012 event will eventually be available on the Library website. Podcasts and transcripts of two of the talks are already available along with the videocast and transcript of this year’s Don Grant Lecture.
