2015 is going to be an exciting year for Australian family historians with a major Australasian congress and a number of State and local events.

From 26 to 30 March in Canberra we have Congress 2015  under the auspices of the Heraldry & Genealogy Society of Canberra and the Australasian Federation of Family History Organisations Inc.     With more than 80 presentations over the four days covering topics as diverse as Dropbox and Evernote for family historians, Using British medals to help fill put your family tree and Learn more from autosomal and X-chrosome DNA there is bound to be something to interest us all at this 14th Australasian Congress. On Thursday 26 March before the Congress itself begins there is a Librarian Seminar for librarians like myself  who specialise in family history.

Closer to home on 15 March there is the 25th  Bendigo AIGS Family & Local History Expo to be held at the Kangaroo Flat Leisure Centre. This has always been a very popular event on the Victorian family history calendar. Congratulations to the committee and members of the Bendigo AIGS on achieving this landmark in 2015.

August sees Australia celebrating National Family History Month. On 10 August the State Library of Victoria will again host the annual Family History Feast event. The theme for this year is not surprisingly World War 1. Check the Library website closer to the event for program and booking details.
