The 2015 Summer Read closes on 15 February, leaving you just enough time to read one of the recommended books and go into the Summer Read prize draw.

What’s the Summer Read you ask? Each year an expert panel selects the very best new books set in Victoria, about Victorians or by Victorian authors. These books are on offer at public libraries throughout Victoria, so they can be borrowed at any time. If you read one of the titles, you can enter the prize draw to win an arm-load of books. Easy!

There’s a great selection of titles on offer, from award-winning author Sonya Harnett’s tumultuous Australian drama Golden boys to Sophie Cunningham’s Warning: the story of Cyclone Tracy, which reflects upon the iconic natural disaster on this its 40th anniversary. Reports from participating public libraries have been incredibly positive – the Summer Read books are on high borrowing rotation and there have been almost 200 entrants in the competition so far.

To enter the Summer Read, head to a local participating library and ask for one of the titles. Participants can win some great bookish prizes by entering the draw here.
