The Miles Franklin Literary Award is one of Australia’s most prestigious literary prizes. It’s awarded each year to a novel that’s of the highest literary merit and that presents Australian life in any of its phases.

The 2017 shortlist was announced on 18 June. The following authors were shortlisted:
