The Library will close at 5pm on Wednesday 14 November due to a major event, the Keith Murdoch Oration.

You can watch a live webcast of the oration by the Honourable Paul Keating, former Prime Minister of Australia, from 7:45pm. 

Please note this event is sold out and no onsite Library services will be available after 5pm, however you can continue to browse the Library catalogue online.  

Requests for books and journals from onsite storage for use that day will close at 4.30pm.

Requests for items stored offsite for use on Thursday 15 November will close at 4.30pm on 14 November.

The Keith Murdoch Oration was established in 2001 to acknowledge the outstanding contribution of Sir Keith Murdoch and his family to the State Library of Victoria. The oration raises funds to support the work of the State Library and reflects the Library’s commitment to promoting debate in the community about knowledge and culture.
