State Library Victoria has been collecting the website of the Melbourne Fringe Festival since 1999 and will continue into the future. Here are some highlights from our online collection at PANDORA.
The Library was founded in 1854 on principles of the right to access to information – one of the first free public libraries in the world. The UNESCO International Day for Universal Access to Information highlights the role access to information can play in contributing to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 16, which is to promote ‘just, peaceful and inclusive societies.’
The 2020 Victorian councils elections were conducted by post meaning the Library’s acquisition team had a huge task to ensure the election material was web-archived.
The Library has been contributing PANDORA, Australia’s web archive, since 1998. Explore the weird and wonderful websites that have made their way into the collection over the past 20 years.
