The eight winners of the National Year of Reading’s Read This! creative reading competition were announced today.
The Read This! competition asked 12-18 year-old readers to nominate a book they thought their peers should read and then to pitch it to the judges in a highly creative way.
More than 320 entries were received online from around Australia with responses ranging from poems to videos, artworks to board games.
Judging panels from each state and territory library reviewed the entries to determine which were the most creative and most persuasive in advocating for their chosen book.
The judging panel from the State Library of South Australia said ‘the combination of imagination and inspiration led to works which captivate the audience…highlighting the books in such a way that the audience feels a compulsion to go out, find the books, sit down and start reading.’
The winners will each receive a personalised collection of Manga books courtesy of Madman Entertainment.
