In a move likely to cause much excitement in genealogy circles, the National Archives of Australia have recently announced a new partnership with Ancestry.com.au, which will see incoming Australian passenger lists indexed and digitised from 1897 – 1963. These records relate to arrivals into Western Australia, but as this was the first stop for most ships, it will in fact cover the majority of people arriving into Australia by ship.
More information about this exciting project can be found on the National Archives of Australia website.
