  1. Congratulations, genealogy team on a wonderful resource and splendid blog.
    Happy 2nd Birthday, Family Matters!

  2. I was delighted to find this photo of my great grandfather Edward Bennett. I currently recording his family history
    Janne Blacker

  3. I have just found that the photographer is connected to my family. Is there any photos of her?
    Carmel Reynen

  4. I am a great grand daughter of Edward ArthurcBennett also, and I am sure that is his 105th birthday cake. The picture shows him in the garden of his home. His cake cutting on his 200th Birthday was done at the aBriagalong Meccanics Hall.
Every year the newspapers ran pieces about his life and recollections as his birthday came and went. Big cakes were made and the Bennett clan assembled… He w as robust despite his injuries from falling off horses and could walk miles up until his 100th birthday. He never stopped trying. That is how he outlived his eldest son George by 4 months and his son William by 10 years
He was disappointed by their “early ” demise, even though they had both lived well past the national average for Australian men at that time.

  5. Correction 100th birthday cake” not 200th birthday cake… sorry , new spectacles have been ordered!
