Carmen: an opera in four acts by Bizet, is the next program in the Music and Dance on Film series, to be screened this Wednesday April 13 in Arts.
Recorded Live at The Metropolitan Opera House, New York in 1997, this great opera classic features a stellar cast including Agnes Baltsa as Carmen, Jose Carreras as Don Jose and Leona Mitchell as Micaela. The Metropolitan Opera Chorus & Orchestra are conducted by James Levine. Artists of The Metropolitan Ballet also feature. The opera is sung in French with English subtitles.
Carmen commences at 12.00 noon and concludes at 2.50 pm (approx). It will be held in the Arts Listening-Viewing Room. Enter via the Arts Reading Room and Audio-Visual Centre (from Trescowthick Information Centre). Admission is free. No bookings required, but come early as seating is limited.
