Two recent biographical musicals are featured on Shane Warne : the musical, based on the life of the Australian cricket legend, and Beautiful : the Carole King musical, that traces the early life and career of the US singer-songwriter using songs that she wrote including So far away, I feel the earth move, Up on the roof, and other contemporary songs. Certified Blue is the latest highly acclaimed release by the Australian blues rock group The Black Sorrows featuring Joe Camilleri on lead vocals. Crucible is a compilation featuring fifteen original recordings by Australian rock group Hunters and Collectors, with fifteen stunning tributes to their music by performers and groups such as Paul Kelly, Neil Finn, Something for Kate and The Living End.

The music of prolific movie composer, John Williams, features on the limited edition release, Empire of the Sun. Written for the 1987 Stephen Spielberg war film, the score includes many haunting and dramatic tracks such as the opening performed by the Ambrosian Junior Choir with orchestra. Mars Attacks is the score for Tim Burton’s 1996 science-fiction comedy that starred Jack Nicholson and Glenn Close. Appalachian Spring, the chamber orchestral work by renowned American composer, Aaron Copland, was recorded live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra at Hamer Hall, Arts Centre in June 2013. This recording also features Australian soprano, Emma Matthews, performing Copland’s Eight poems by Emily Dickinson. Full symphony orchestral favourites from the great classical and romantic composers such as Elgar, Mozart, Grieg, Haydn and Vaughan Williams feature on Classics for a Lazy Sunday, performed by the Melbourne Symphony, and other Australian orchestras. Great Spring listening on any day of the week!
