American jazz legend Lena Horne performs all her greatest hits and more live on Broadway in the 1981 release, Lena Horne : the lady and her music.For something completely different, For Auld Lang Syne! Australia will be there, is a recently digitised recording of one of the Library’s 78s featuring English baritone, Stanley Kirkby, and orchestra performing a marching song used by Australian military forces in 1914. It is the B side of a record that has a documentary account of The Landing of the Australian Troops in Egypt as the A side.

Popular music arrivals include a double album set celebrating the 40th anniversary of 1970s-80s ABC pop-rock music program, Countdown. Tracks include the famous Countdown Theme that opened every program, songs like Yesterday’s Hero by John Paul Young, Mamma Mia by Abba, and performances by other show regulars such as Culture Club, Elton John and Blondie. A great selection for nostalgia buffs and those who switched-on at 6 o’clock every Sunday night to watch Countdown.
There is also a remastered and expanded edition of The Wanderer by iconic disco/pop/rock singer, Donna Summer. This 1980 Gold album was her first on the Geffen label, produced by her long-standing collaborator the legendary Giorgio Moroder, and contained a mixture of rock, disco, gospel and new wave styles. Highlights include The Wanderer, the spectacular Grand Illusion, Breakdown and Nightlife. This re-release is part of a 10-CD box set called Donna, containing seven remastered albums from the singers post-disco period.
