To mark this special Week, Family Matters has invited a guest blogger, librarian and historian Heather Evans. After working for a number of years as a librarian, Heather decided to return to study majoring in Australian social history. She developed a passion for the history of ‘everyday’ people, especially the immigration experience and in 1998 completed a MA degree. Her thesis was on the first wave of post-Second World War displaced persons arriving in Australia. In her blog post next week, Heather will look at the value of oral history to the story of our families.
