You’ve thought about it over the Christmas/New Year break. Perhaps you have a family reunion coming up or you’ve been watching Who Do You Think You Are? Now is a great time to start, continue or even finish your family history research.

Learn how to find out more at the fourth Melbourne open day of Shake Your Family Tree on Friday 25 February at the Victorian Archives Centre (99 Shiel Street, North Melbourne) from 9.30am to 4pm, organised by National Archives of Australia.

There will be a number of information stalls with representatives from archival and family history organisations, including of course the State Library of Victoria.

Over the day you can attend talks which at 1.50pm will include “Researching family history at the State Library of Victoria. There will also be introductory training on Public Record Office Victoria and National Archives of Australia online resources “Archives at your fingertips”.

At the conservation clinic from 1 – 2pm get advice from leading conservators on the preservation and care of your family records. Jean Holland, Senior Book Conservator from the Library will be a member of the panel.

A copy of the full program is available on the National Archives website.

Grant and I from the Genealogy Team look forward to meeting you on 25 February as you shake your family tree in 2011.
