Wide image of Literature Lane street art

To Melbourne’s photographers: help us capture Melbourne’s iconic laneways before they are transformed into a blank canvas for the Meeting of Styles festival this weekend.

Meeting of Styles is an internationally renowned graffiti and arts festival, coming to Melbourne from 1–3 April 2016.

On the evening of Thursday 31 March, eight Melbourne laneways will be painted over* in preparation for new street art from some of the best known local, interstate and international artists taking part in the festival.

We need your help to capture and record our laneways as they exist now for the State Collection, before the current artwork disappears. We’re looking for photographs of the following laneways:

  • Literature Lane
  • Blender Lane
  • Loveland Lane
  • Duckboard Place (The Banksy will not be removed)
  • Hosier Lane
  • Croft Alley
  • Union Lane

  1. Dear Ms Kelly,

My name is Thomas Watson and I am a media communications student at Swinburne University. I was wondering if it would be possible to follow some of the progress on removing the artwork for a short new piece assignment I am writing?

  2. I have a lot of photos of graffiti in Melbourne laneways over the last 10 years that I’ve lived here. Unfortunaly at lot now is quickly tagged over..Would be a shame to lose what we have got there is still great stuff around.
