Did you know that a group of girls sent a petition to the Australian government to try to keep popstar Normie Rowe from being conscripted to serve in the Vietnam War? It was unsuccessful as we now know, however to find out more about this and many other aspects of the important conscription topic listen to Mark Brennan from the National Archives of Australia as he speaks on “Conscription : 20th-century records at National Archives”.

Mark was one of the presenters at the annual Family History Feast held in 2011 on 1 August at the State Library of Victoria. If you are researching any aspect of Indigenous family history you will learn more of the relevant holdings of the Victorian Archives Centre in the talk by Sebastian Gurciullo and Ed Story.

The third talk by the State Library’s own Katie Flack, Collections Coordinator gives an excellent overview of “genealogical gems in the State Library’s La Trobe Collections“.

The podcasts of these three presentations are now available on the Library’s website.  Enjoy!
